Healing involves two aspects: preserving the personhood of an individual and providing comfort measures. Illness makes a patient helpless and this sense of helplessness creates suffering. Therapeutic touch is an effective treatment for pain. Paramedicine is stands at the intersection of health care, public health, and public safety and a paramedic is cross-trained in all of these. A paramedic is well acquainted with disease medicine practice and art of counseling, is therefore also a teacher, a healer, a patient's advocate and a shoulder which shares patient's pain and agony. It is the element of compassion that makes paramedic a true healer for an ailing soul. Therapeutic touch involves one-on one attention and humane touch and a paramedic heals pain using both pharmacology and compassion to the best of patient's benefit.

A professional paramedic has to stay current with the state of the art techniques for delivering his duties. This is best accomplished through continuing medical education which culminates in periodic recertification with intentions to ensure the public that the paramedics that serve them arecompetent with latest knowledge.

COREP “ is a Conference of Renal Healthcare Professionals”, an initiative taken by Late Dr. Vidya Acharya to bring together nurses, dialysis technicians dieticians, and medical social workers to strengthen paramedic workforce in the renal healthcare sector. The first COREP was organized at Mumbai in 2012 by Dr Bharat V Shah, the second by Dr Sunil Schroff at Chenai in 2014 and the 3rd in 2016 by Dr Anita Saxena at Lucknow.

The 4th COREP which is being organized by Dr Umesh Khanna has rich scientific content on hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, solid organ transplantation, and renal nutrition. Each session will focus on issues of utmost importance in day to day practice. The scientific content has direct bearing on patient care. The conference is an opportunity for technicians and nurses to discuss practical problems in patient's clinical care.
