The Indian Dietetic Association (IDA) was founded in 1962 by Prof. Kalyan Bagchi and Dr. C. Gopalan as the president in Kolkata. The association is affiliated to the International Congress of Dietetics (ICDA) since 1975 and is also a member of the Asian Federation of Dietetic Associations.

The IDA – Mumbai Chapter is the largest chapter in the IDA with a pool of 2300 life members, over 800 student members, and 6 associate members. Under the able guidance of President Ms. Naaznin Husein and Vice President Ms. Zamurrud Patel, the chapter has spearheaded many successful continuous medical education (CMEs) and outreach programs every year. It is also one of the most active chapters of IDA, and the chapter has collaborated with various organizations such as the Times of India and Mumbai Mirror to conduct community outreach programs for healthier living via the Equal Streets, Girls Soccer League programs. The IDA also holds an accreditation examination for registration of qualified dietitians as “Registered Dietitians” every year.

The IDA – Mumbai Chapter hosted the 49th Annual Conference of Indian Dietetic Association at Hotel Sahara Star, Mumbai, from September 23 to September 25, 2016. It was the first-of-its-kind annual congregation where over 2000 practicing dietitians, students, and allied health professionals such as physicians, nephrologists, gynecologists, diabetologists, and cardiologists attended the scientific sessions among others. The theme for the conference was “Joining Hands to Nourish India-Nutrition Beyond Nutrients.” Keeping true to theme, the IDA joined hands with other associations.

We began our partnership with IRS-Global Hospital with IDACON 2016. This was the first time where we also had a unique and most applauded workshop focused on renal nutrition to address the burning clinical and nutritional issues in the management. The workshop was immaculately convened by Dr. Bharat Shah and Ms. Zamurrud Patel and graced by national and international speakers and largely attended by both nutritionists and nephrologists.

We at IDA – Mumbai chapter are extremely happy to partner with SRNMCOM for the conference.

The scientific content of the entire conference is extremely robust and very visionary.

We wish SRNMCON 2018 all the success for taking the lead steps in better clinical management and positive patient outcomes.
